StrikerChris - 14/4/16 at 06:09 PM

If so what are they like.been offered a bargain but I won't skimp if they don't work!

Chris

chicade - 14/4/16 at 06:13 PM

I've heard they are good but I think you need the 120 softer compound ones

StrikerChris - 14/4/16 at 06:17 PM

I'll check that then.good chance they'll be the right ones because they're coming from someone who ran in a race series who have changed the tyre you have to run this season from last.

zx12r dug - 14/4/16 at 06:20 PM

Hi pal not done any track action but they seem to do the job on the road I'm happy with them

bi22le - 14/4/16 at 06:25 PM

I was very close to buying a full set of these.

The general feedback was from tin tops. Good value for money but no R888 or A048.

In the end i snapped up a set of nearly new A048. Which i am glad of because my slim line 185 get a beating on track.

I need some 7" rims

big-vee-twin - 14/4/16 at 06:28 PM

I have them on tin top and 7 they are pretty good

Arkwright - 14/4/16 at 07:30 PM

I have used the soft compound on several different track cars.
They won`t grip quite aswell as a 888 in the dry but not far off.
They last much longer than 888`s.
In the wet they are very good actually b rated I believe.
They need a decent heat cycle before they`ll grip at all.

I`ve used them on an mx 5 and a Tiger avon and now have a set to use when its wet on my Bike engined phoenix.

To sum up they are a great value all round tyre. And can be used in all conditions, so if you only have one set of wheels ideal.

StrikerChris - 14/4/16 at 07:43 PM

Well if I buy all 8 they're £20 a tyre. So I may well have 4 to pass on at the same price. 195 50 15 I think off the top of my head.

obfripper - 14/4/16 at 08:06 PM

Definately do need scrubbing in before using in the wet, I took mine out for first run of the year last night just as it started raining and was a complete handful on new ns2r's, spinning up in every gear and was super easy to lock up. The ns2r's I ran last year were fine in the wet even with legal limit tread remaining, excepting standing water.

Bargain!
I'm running the 180 compound,so far seem to be a really good tyre on the road.
I see your only just up the road from Oswestry, what engine is in your striker?

bowood14 - 14/4/16 at 08:17 PM

Good tyres use mine on road and trackdays do take a bit of warming up Go for the softer compound on a 7 type car

loggyboy - 14/4/16 at 08:57 PM

Again, a tin top review but wouldn't want to use them for a track tyre again as they wore very quickly. (500 road miles and 1 day at thruxton took then to canvas). Especially bad as they come with 7/8mm rather than the 5 you get on most track oriented tyres. Good for a fast summer road tyre tho.
Keep an eye out for their new offering the AR1, looks very aggressive.

Look good but not sure about wet road / track use

ian locostzx9rc2 - 15/4/16 at 05:47 AM

I run them on my striker track and road and I'm very impressed with them 120 compound which is the soft one done about 600 miles on track and 600miles on the road approx 40 percent worn . Very predicable in the dry and wet /damp better in standing water than 048s or rrrs

russtik - 15/4/16 at 10:48 AM

I ran the 120 soft compound and very happy with them. Pretty stiff wall and once scrubbed in they're really grippy and predictable in the dry. Wet performance was surprisingly good. In this price band there's not much to compete, I think they're great value and a good all-rounder for a se7en.

StrikerChris - 15/4/16 at 01:52 PM

Sounds like a no brainer then, cheers.

Tidy,bet that goes well

Do you get out in it much?

Have to have a drive out sometime,zx12rdug is only in Gobowen too.

Hey guys

Been looking at these tyres, I know you have the 120 compound and the 180, where is a good place to buy them? place I've seen for £55 in 195 55 15 but they are XL which I think would be too stiff for a BEC?

what compounds are you guys running on the road

I got mine from JJC Race and Rally(part of Tweeks I'm pretty sure but they deny it ) pretty sure the 55 profile are only available in 180 compound,50 profile are available in both 180 and 120 compound

I'm running the 195/55 15's on mine, they are a pretty stiff sidewall but for the money they are a great tyre

Are yours XL sidewalls then? as I can't seem to find any in stock that arn't XL, so maybe that's the only option for these tyres!

CosKev3 - 4/4/17 at 03:48 PM

Must be!

I'll check when I'm home.

What does the XL mean?

Johneturbo - 4/4/17 at 04:19 PM

Cheers CosKev3 that would be great, XL means "extra load" for heavier cars i guess which is why i wasn't sure if they would be too stiff for our light cars!

jeffw - 4/4/17 at 07:58 PM

Extra Load

FYI I run 205 R888s on a 6.5J (and 225 on a 7J) - it's not ideal but it does work.

Johneturbo - 5/4/17 at 08:03 AM

Well I spoke with ears motorsport as they have a set on ebay, and they don't say XL, but they don't have any stock doh! he said the trackday tyres 120/180 compound won't be XL as such, but they might be stiffer! :/

Johneturbo - 5/4/17 at 08:44 AM

update on tyre gate, spoke with camskill they used to have a 82 rating but they are all now 86 which they call the XL which is the same as the toyo 888 anyway.

So I think that covers the rating!

CosKev3 - 5/4/17 at 03:39 PM

Yeah mine are XL then

Robbaa - 30/11/17 at 02:25 PM

i have some 205 17 XL on the front of my viento at 650ish kgs and they seem to be holding up ok.

i replaced a set of R888's which rode horribly giving really bumpy steering, the nsr2's rectified this and id say only give slightly less grip

B33fy - 30/11/17 at 09:30 PM

I run some on my viento as well. Harder compound 205/40/17 on the front and 255/49/17 on the back. Lasting well and pretty good in the dry. Have to tip toe in the wet though.
