G360dhd another ringer

Spoke to a guy on ebay earlier about his car.

Its registered as a p100 Sierra but he insists its been through the iva and is registered correctly.

DVla shows 1989 sierra

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192511307305

Am I missing something here?

linky

Thanks

Sounds like the guy is telling porkies. Why would it be registered as a Sierra if its been through IVA ? Ask to see a copy of the IVA certificate.

He sent me the mot of a Ford p100 from May last year. Said its been iva but used Sierra name as its all Sierra parts.

Going round in circles. Beware of this one.

Sounds suspect to me and one to avoid.

My MK Indy used a Sierra donor, but I certainly had no intention of using the word Sierra in its name or any of its paperwork.

Ye agreed. The guy who owns it seems confused. He seems nice. But thinks all he needs is the original chassis plate and a mot and it's OK. I've asked for the iva cert as he said it's been done but not getting anywhere with that.

Hope no on buys it in the current state.

It still amazes me that this is being done so blatantly it’s a big issue in the hotrod scene aswell .

Such a shame. Thought the DVla had been cracking down on this.

For those fond of litigation, I'm sure that the owner of this particular vehicle has all the documentation and the car is completely without any detriments. It's a 'Bargin'.

Similar confusion with the 'Historic' (Hysteric) Tax (and soon to be MoT) exempt (sorry, Ebay speek - tax excepted, for those of that persuasion) Land Rover Defenders.... plenty of those available.

All this would need, surely, as I've said before, is a box marked 'questionable identity' at MoT time (ah, assuming it hasn't been excepted). It would then highlight a flag to VOSA to look at should they feel the need, obviously unnecessary in anything aforementioned.

At least it's now possible to check a registration online before you waste time looking at a questionable vehicle, or a vehicle you feel is questionable.

Yep, relisted but unless he has the VIN plates, v5 etc it will be very difficult to get through DVLA checks for registration and IVA

It was hard enough doing mine and I had all the VIN plates, V5 pictures and everything.

He's not owned it long and was told it was all legit when he bought it

I've told him to expect a massive hit on the sale price with it needing a IVA

Is a shame for him think he has had it 6 months.

Probably worth about 3.5 to 4k at best.

I sold a Avon with all new parts and 2 919 engines for 3.5k

That had just been in paint shop as well.

They told me it's as original they guy seems genuine that he didn't know and was sold a lemon. Shame for him seems a nice enough car but not worth much without iva.
