IRS

Anyone converted to IRS using the Sierra diff? or has anyone any measurements/drawings for adapting from the book chassis?

I'm looking for some photos I took at Stoneleigh for Neo of Sierra IRS, If I find them soon I'll email them to you as well. A couple of examples of different ways to use the Sierra diff. I think the lolocost chassis used the whole sierra crossmember assembly which bolted under the seat but I thought that looked too heavy, others, although more involved, looked much neater.

I might have sussed a compromise here. MK Engineering have on offer a De Dion setup that will do the trick, a lot cheaper than any IRS kit I have seen.

Another seemingly good way, and coincidentaly the way I'm doing it is to build the chassis as per the book at the front, and as per the tiger book at the back. I haven't come across any problems with it, apart from how god aweful the tiger drawings are. Although you will end up with different front and rear track it saves on confusion with shortening sierra racks/extending escort racks, changing the dimensions of the wishbones, and so on. I reserving judgement whether different tracks will look good/OK/rubbish until I've got it on the road, and if I don't like it, hell it's not gonna be that hard to sort it out.

Incidentally if anyone in the area needs 3/4in 16 swg or 1in 12 swg CDS but doesn't want to buy a full length, I can probably sell you a metre or two.

If the designs include fabricated uprights, then most likely yes.
