New mobiles - what to get & any deals on multi-buys?

Hi guys,

Looking for a couple of new phones for me & other half.

At the moment we're both on different networks.

Looking for a couple of smart-phone/touch screen things, ideally something we don't have to pay a fortune for (either hand set or line rental).

Can anyone recommend some phones and do any of the networks offer 'packages' for 2 phones?

Cheers

If you are looking to get cheaper Android phones with reasonable specs:
Orange San Francisco gets good reviews and can be unlocked, £99 at Argos PAYG, daughter loves hers
Orange Monte Carlo also good reviews, but not unlockable as yet £119 from Orange PAYG
They are both ZTEs under the cover

Next step up would be HTC Wildfire £139 PAYG, the missus loves hers

My daugher bought a Galaxy Fit with her birthday money. £80 on PAYG and I'm pretty impressed. For an entry level android phone, it's pretty good. Struggles somewhat with the more graphical games but for day to day use it's fantastic. Probably far more practical than my Galaxy S that I have to charge religiously every day...

If you are fairly light users Orange PAYG is very good I pay £10 per Month, convert some of it to a data pack and have never run out of credit.
Orange San Francisco is a very good phone very easy& free to unlock for use other networks.

3 mobile and Vodafone both do good monthly deals
3 network is best and cheapest for mobile internet , 3 network is fast as it is all 3 g but coverage out in the boonies is still not good.
Vodafone 2g coverage out in the country is better and pay monthly users get to connect for free to BT Openzone Wifi. Vodafone are also have good add on packs for travelling in Europe ie £5 for 30 minutes if bought before you go.

I bought a Galaxy Mini on Orange and it works o.k I put a battery saver app which was a pain in the proverbial as it kept shutting things down and I had to fall out with some Indian people to get my free 250mb 1 month data package as they said it was not available for my phone while I was reading it out to them from the Orange website I've now upped it to an unofficial Gingerbread O.S. and it lasts better. If you use £10 a month for long enough on Orange they will offer you discounts on phone deals like £20 off the San Francisco but you do have to ring up and ask.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Any of you guys use (or know anyone who uses) GIFFGAFF ?
Sim only and look pretty good deals for texts & data.
I know it would mean forking out for a couple of sim-free/unlocked handsets but looks like a decent deal?

Cheers

I bought my Mrs a HTC desire Z, the one with a keyboard, on offer a few months ago for £200.
She looked around for a decent Sim deal and came up with Giff-gaff.
A tenner a month for 250 minutes, unlimited texts and (truly) unlimited data.
They use the O2 network, so phones which are locked to O2 work without having to unlock.
I don't want to work out how much cheaper this option is over the 2 years my contact lasts ;(

Recommend by us.
