Oddessy 25 type battery seems to be most popular
my Powervamp 25 (a copy of the oddessy) turns my high compression 2.1 pinto over without a problem....

Hmmm no will need storage as well. I dont want to have charge it up all the time. Im using the original Banham one off of the donor sierra which isnt
too big but would like to use smaller if i can get away with it.

how much storage are we talking? I treat mine like any other car battery and it's fine - only time I had to recharge it was when I accidentally
left the lights on for about 4 hours.....

£78 for a battery
I have to say i was thinking more along the lines of a conventional one just smaller.

£78 isn't really that much is it?
amounts to a good night out!
how much would you pay for a 'normal' battery? just checked Halfrauds and they want £71.99 for a battery suitable for a 2.0l sierra...

Halfords are, I think, rather expensive for batteries.
If you look here:
http://www.varta-automotive.com/index.php?id=11&no_cache=1
Click on the "VARTA BLACK dynamic" picture
and you find the smallest regular car battery is an A17 (207x175x175) assuming 360 amps cranking current is enough for your engine.
They are available for £35 (though cash only on collection sounds a little dodge ) from ebay

I've got an EVX12170 from www.mdsbattery.co.uk its very small and starts my XE ok. I do keep it connected to an optimate but it seems to stand
up to a bit of abuse.
