Fitting alloy rack clamps and escort rack to Haynes Roadster

Hi all,

I seem to be having a bit of a moment, I can't figure out how these 2 spacers go and would appreciate somebody knocking some sense into me. They don't seem to fit in any orientation unless I start cutting them to pieces which doesn't make sense. I bought the clamps from Rally design and the rack is a Escort MK2 2.9 Ratio Steering Rack RHD (RD870) again from Rally design. Both potentially look like they might fit on the large clamp, but I can't see how either fit on the smaller clamp.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I bought my clamps and spacers from Rally Design as well when I built my Haynes Raodster a few years back. I think Rally Design just don't bother cutting the spacers exactly at the right dimensions and think "better longer than shorter".

So I just trimmed them so they can fit, and they haven't moved since.

They don't need to be perfectly adjusted on each side against each clamp and steering rack edges, as they won't move when you get the rack tighten on the support wit the clamps. They are just here to make sure the rack is correctly tighten between the clamps and the support with no play.

So big spacer (square) goes on the large attach point, small one (rectangle) goes on the narrow one after trimming.

Hope that will help
