Diagonal bracing in chassis

Hi,
Ref: diagonal bracing in chassis.
Is it legal to use 1" square box section instead of the 19mm round that the book stipulates?

Diagonal bracing in 1" Box section

I have seen photos of cars that are running in the championship with 1" box section in their chassis.
