Warner R4 and or Motaleira at Newark?

Anybody know if either of these cars will be at Newark and if so when?

I have a 2 hour window on both Saturday and Sunday to visit and do a 1 hour round trip. I have seen most other kits and cars but am desperate to see how good a scratch built exoskeleton car can look.

I missed Cloudy's car at Stoneleigh, bit gutted about that.

I posted this here rather than U2Uing as I thought they might already be there.

Thanks

Sorry, not there yet.....and might not be.
Also Cloudy has just u2u'ed me that he has done his big ends
Saturday was my planned first day, but it is looking like rain. I'm going to take a look at the weather in the morning.
I know that Sunday is going to be better weatherwise, but I don't fancy doing 136 miles each way in the same day. I was planning to stay on saturday night.
We will see in the morning.....
Newlands is looking more attractive considering the alternative of a 272 mile trip!

Big ends gone pop, the wonder of 15 year old bike engines! I wish I could afford to drop an R1 lump in

But never fear! the old engine is out and a spare is going in tomorrow... so I'll aim to come up Sunday....

I understand this other engine has a big bore kit so might actually prove to be producing more power

Note the colour of the cap, and it's dryness (all the oil has burned off) It didn't smell too good...

It has just sprinkled with rain here, haven't looked at the forecast for the weekend though.

Real shame if you don't make it you would have got a bigger crowd than Miss Kit Car.

Gutted for Cloudy.

Thanks for your reply, might see you Sunday but as you say 272 miles in one day is more than enough in an open top car.

Still don't write us off as Cloudy says he is changing the engine tomorrow.
There is the possibilty that we might be there Sunday.......watch this thread!

I had resigned myself to missing it if neither car was there, sounds like one or maybe both of you could be there.

Keep me posted!

EDIT - I will be watching the thread as will everyone else. I am not suggesting you plan your weekend around me or anything but my hour window is 10:00-11:00 Saturday and 10:00-11:30 Sunday.

P.S. No offence to anyone who has not scratch built an exoskeleton car, but I only have one hour max to see the show this year, I have been the last four years on the trot and though I have enjoyed it, it is nearly always the same.

I did well over 400 in one day going to Laon at the begining of the month. Early start and you'll be there in no time. You might clock up a few more though with people wanting passenger rides!

My son has just informed me that he doesn't want to go tomorrow.
Anyone fancy a lift in the MotaLeira?
I'll be leaving early though, about 6.00am!
Hopefully Cloudy will be joining us on the way.......Good Luck with the engine swap Cloudy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Engine sucessfully swapped and i've taken it round the block, the extra ~100cc's give even more down low grunt

Stem seals need doing as it throws a lot of smoke out after idling on 3 or 4 but it's a runner

Still trying to get everything tidy for tomorrow, there's wires out of the loom everywhere!!

OK she's a bit untidy but after another 20min spin I think she'll make it, so with luck the Motaleira AND the R4 should be at Newark tomorrow

That is good news.

Do you know where you will be? I am assuming the Locost area.

EDIT - good luck to you both on the trip.

No excuses necessary.

Sounds like it will be an adventure for you both, cracking effort to get to the show by the way - wish I had your energy.

I was delighted to see both cars made it. Nice to meet you Martin but sorry I didn't get to speak to James. Great effort in getting there, I only really went to see your cars so I was well impressed.

I was well impressed with how 'right' the cars looked - a real credit to you and quite inspiring.

I didn't get to see Miss Kit Car, but I did shake the hand of Chris Gibbs - just as good in my book.

Hope you had an uneventful trip home. Mine was crap - I was late for dinner and they were all waiting for me.

Made it both ways - but that new engine drunk a litre of oil! Can't quite work out where it's gone, I don't think it's in the exhaust (bad stem seals) Think my reused copper washers on the oil res take off are at fault....

I got home too with no incidents.
James, Do our cars fly or what?
Not bad, 385 miles and all I've had to do is adjust the clutch slave cylinder so no more slippage and shorten the chain by one link (last week)!
I'm a bit sunburnt on my head......next time I'll wear a hat!
