Uploading Photos

What are the current guidelines for uploading photos? And what is the preferred format, jpg, png or giff?

JPGs work fine for me, resized to suit the site.

since all photos on the site have to have a unique names, best to prefix with your username or suchlike.
ie rather than car1.jpg, rename it to fred_car1.jpg
edit clarity

Tried reducing photos/images right down (12cm), but they still won't upload. Have any size restrictions been imposed?

There is a limit, but I can't remember what it is...

I do know that ~1024x768 or even 800x600 pixles work quite well (ie ye olde XGA or SVGA resolution)

What size are the ones your trying to upload?
(in MB and/or pixels - cm is no good as it could be based on any pixel density)

Re: Mobile pic uploads - I've never had an issue as long as they are small enough files....
(has your phone got an app that can re-size them?)

Have previously uploaded photos, without any major probs, from my Samsung digi camera. Now, using same camera (and same SD card), photos just won't upload. So summat has changed on this website. So there must be some form of picture limit in operation - but what??

1024 x 768 is the standard on my camera.
