Although I’ve not mounted a Se rwd I’ve done other engines.

Set the car level on some hard standing. Use bits of wood under the wheels to get the car sitting straight and level.

Plonk the engine and gearbox in the hole. Again get the engine level and in the position you want using more wood.
It wants to be as close to the bonnet as you can get.
I aim for a gap of 15mm all around. Ie you want a little room for it to move on the mounts. It will settle a little so it really needs to be as high as you can get it with out touching.

With the engine plates on the engine and rubbers it’s a case of cutting the tubes.

You want 6mm min for the plates and 3mm 40mm tube or box to join them together.

Cheers warren

This is how I mounted one in my anglia but could be modified for locost style.

Mounted on ac pump bolts and steering pump mounts at front of engine. The end of the arms bolt onto land rover bobbins and these then bolt onto the chassis. Only issue with the design is that the mount covers the holiness in the block where the crank alignment tool goes in when changing the cam belt so mount needs to be removed to do this.

If you trawl through this link there are pictures of various mounts. They are in classic cars but can be adapted. I got inspiration from the blue escort. Worth noting the square tube on mine goes right through the main plate and is welded both sides. It was then flanged to give a bit more strength.

The Zetec se is a stock fit on Caterham and Westfield so they may have someth8ng off the shelf (at a price).

They are a very tall engine, I swapped my pinto for one and it's a lot taller!
The sump hangs really low and the top of the engine is almost touching the bonnet.
The Avon is maybe quite low at the front bodywork?

I have a stock 1.7 and will have a 1.6 in the garage next week if you need dimensions. Just let me know what.
