Halfords socket and spanner set on offer

Just spotted this, was £300, now £150 for a 200 piece tool kit.

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_1001919_langId_-1_categoryId_255215#tab1

The Halfords Professional range seems to be well regarded on here.

I am very tempted - it's two weeks to pay day though!

Any thoughts, recommendations or otherwise?

Thanks

Whilst its not a bad price, as mentioned by someone else when a similar link was posted a few weeks back, ignore the 'was' price as they are on offer as often as they legally can be, which is about 70% of the year.

Wow, I was about to say that you can't compare cheap stuff to Halfords Pro, but Stanley isn't normally cheap stuff!!

I wonder how much international shipping would be...

Softfeet, don't worry about you not having the funds immediately available, this 'offer' was designed by DFS.... it's more on offer than it is at full price!

I'm building up quite a selection of the Halfords stuff and it serves me well. I have managed to abuse bits beyond its point of destruction but Halfords have always swapped the gear for new stuff with no quibbles. I don't rate Stanley very much at all, apart from their Fat Max stuff which is OK if you get it in the 'sales'.

They have been known to do the 170 piece set for £80 which is normally 250. I bought one with an online click and collect voucher on a tip off on here, the guys in the shop couldn't believe it!

They are nice tools but not worth the full retail prices IMHO, esp if you already have spanner and socket sets.

The deals will come and go, wait till you can justify it without guilt!

As already highlighted the "amazing offers" do come round pretty regularly and you can subscribe to the Halfrauds e msil sevice as well as the likes of hot uk deals which flag up anything out of the ordinary. Froom years of locost observations the Halfords Xmas sale which usually runs fron Xmas Eve until midnight on Boxing Day gives much better savings and is the time to keep funds in reserve to buy st short notice.

Being able to drive to a shop (which is nearly always within 15 minutes away) and have a broken tool replaced there and then (which nearly always happens on a Sunday) is worth the extra if you ask me,

Didn't Halfords replace the Pro range with an Advanced range?

Thanks for the helpful replies.

I suppose I was asking about the value of the sale price - the 'was' price is irrelevant, really. Good point about buying locally, as well. And the range now seems to be called 'Advanced Professional'.

I think I will hang on till the end of the month and see if I can get it with any vouchers, etc. It seems quick way to build an tool kit - most of my others are too old, rusty, etc. I built my Dutton 30 years ago with a bicycle spanner and a hammer (almost!) but things have moved on a bit since then.

The only problem for me with this Halfords kit is that, although it includes imperial sockets, it does not include imperial spanners and the Hillman Imp engine I am using has imperial fasteners. So I will need to buy separate imperial spanners .
