Haynes chassis build cost?

I'm sure there are many answers depending on how you spec it, but based on buying, cutting and welding yourself, what sort of money does it cost to build a Haynes roadster chassis?

I have no option to drive for most of 2016 and aside from a 205 GTI project I have some time spare to build another car so am looking at cost options.

Assuming you have already have a hacksaw, grinder, welder then tube materials are £90-120 for 25x25x1.5mm and 20x20x1.5mm ERW with or with out the delivery, buy a 150x3mm flat and go scrap bin raiding for the 50x5mm flat, buy the suspension brackets don't bother making them.
Basic chassis including a steel floor should not be more than £300-350.

I have tools to cut and shape and a welder and a local steel stockist to help.

Useful info - thanks!

Negotiate the steel based on weight if you can.

i bought the chassis as a flat pack kit costing £350 so to buy the raw steel and cut yourself should e a chunk less, plus steel is cheaper now than last march

Chassis Steel Price

Are these prices still about right for the chassis steel. £300-350 as above or has the steel price changed much. Also, building a chassis or using a flat pack kit is there much tolerance in the joints? (i.e. if there is a small gap between the steel before welding is there any issues with bodywork etc.)

If I was going to build from scratch it would be a midlana, easier engine install etc, unfortunately there are no flat pack for that available afaik.
