Fuel Tank

I'm planning on making a new fuel tank for my Stylus, as I only have a dc tig it's going to be steel, what thickness steel is recommended?

I'd go with 18 gauge, which is about 1.2 mm, 20 gauge (0.9mm) would be OK too, but the thicker stuff easier to weld and attach brackets to, less chance of stress cracks at mounting points etc. downside its 30% heavier.

If you can flute any large flat areas to reduce drumming and rubber mount with straps rather than welded on brackets, go with the the thinner stuff.
