Let's just say never use a Leeds based Powder Coaters.

Can't say anything else just in case I have to persue legal action.

But that there is 9 months work and a fistful of dollers - in fact, it's priceless to me as it's a one off and all my panels have been built to suit.

Surely if they fcuked it up they will have to put it right..? No idea what they managed to do to that though!

Cant blame you for being mightly annoyed though. Looks like they made a right mess of it!

Hope you get it sorted out without toooo much hassle

Basically, I had a go with the POR-15.

There was a few runs, so I decided to have it blasted and powdercoated at a Leeds place, along with 2 other chassis (Carl's and Toms).

I paid for a blast and powder coat and it came back one week later with two layers of powder coat on top of the POR-15 - runs and all!

They had to put on two layers as the 1st one reacted - now there's a chuffing suprise!

And what happened to the blast I paid for ???

Anyway we rejected it and asked for it blasting properly and powdercoating properly.

So they had to sub-contract it out for blasting (as they couldn't get the layers off) and we went to check it before they powder coated it again and it's only half blasted and they've used a really corse media.

Fuming is a good work at the moment as I've now lost nearly two weeks and still have no chassis.

Blimey!!

Is the moral of that to not try and blast off POR15 cos it's a complete bitch, or do you just need to find somewhere with some pretty hardcore blasting equipment?

It's as tough as powder coating if prepped correctly.

I think the morale is find a company that will actually blast the chassis and prep it properly first.

If there had been no runs in the POR-15, I'd of been none the wiser.

The thing is that they had the capacity to do the job .They are a ISO9000 registered company in a nice building.
They do shot blast and powder coat on the same site. The equipment I saw that was powder coated
and the set up in terms of the workshop equipment was and is top notch. Just somebody thought he could
make a few extra quid by not shot blasting and we would never know. Now we find that they’ve had the chassis
shot blasted by somebody else from above which has left all the paint runs and powder coat on the undersides
of all the tubes. Jesus how hard can it be to shot blast and powder coat 3 chassis’s.
We can't get one done in 3 WEEKS. Sorry Pat,Tom I feel bad as it was me who found them and I will try and sort something today.

Carl
