what chassis is this??
Ocahan - 11/6/15 at 10:58 PM

I've been offered this chassis for sale
The owner doesn't know much about it as he's bought it as an abandoned project a while back
All he could tell me was that it was a locost.
I don't want to waste a journey to view without doing my homework first.
Can anyone tell from the pics what it is? And what roughly would it be worth?
The chassis itself is as new

Looks like a home built book designed Locost from the Build your own sportscar for as little as £250

Looks like a Locost, maybe the camera angle but the tranny tunnel seems wider. There's a top bar missing which I assume is for a larger engine.

Appears to be well made.

Certainly looks like the good old Ron Champion chassis to me.

needs a brace on the roll hoops as they'll just fold over, plates for the top seatbelt mounts look to flimsy also

Would it be worth £450-500 for what you see guys?

I would say that is strong money if it's home made / un known.

You have what looks like a mk2 escort rear axle. That's going to cost you £100+ if good.
The pedal box looks like an early Obp. With master cylinders that would cost over £200 to replace.
Front wishbones and bushes £££

Little bits like the hand brake cables really add up.

If you had the front uprights and hubs to help make it a roller it would help. A fair deal ? Maybe but a bargain ? not compared to some other stuff.

I think is a Ron champion book type chassis with some engine bay bracing missing, pedal box I think is Stuart Taylor Motorsport or Aires motorsport

It looks like a Ron champion to me . I sold mine nearly a year ago and I think I only got £1200 for it and it was half built with everything needed to finish it with it . There wasn't a lot of interest in it and I lost a lot of money on it . I would of probably of got more if I stripped it down and sold the parts separately ! It's very difficult to value this type of thing .

£250, go over it with a tape measure going corner to corner, 1/4" discrepancy is fine 1/2" walk away.
