Schiphol Airport-Help
liam.mccaffrey - 23/10/15 at 09:07 PM

I've stuffed up I think, I'm due to fly into Schiphol from Cardiff on Sunday night and I haven't left enough time to catch my connecting train really. How long does it normally take to get through immigration and down to the train station, assuming I take only hand luggage??

Anyone have any knowledge on this.

Cheers

Depending on which gate you arrive in there is usually no more than 20-25 mins to get to the station with hand luggage.

Keith.

Thanks Keith, I arrive at 1955 and there are 2 trains, one at 2033 and the second at 2110. The earlier is very much preferred and is direct. Second one has a change in Rotterdam. I'll be laughing if I can get on the 2033 but it will be close and if the plane is delayed I'm stuffed anyway and will have to stay in Amsterdam. overnight.

I'd pray for a delay and hit Amsterdam!

I'd agree with the 20 to 25 minutes providing you walk quickly and you get lucky with the gate you get in at

I've always assumed that quoted arrival time ( 19.55 ) is the time the wheels hit the tarmac. Then you've got the taxying and the hundred idiots trying to get their luggage out of the overhead lockers.

If you land on the new runway, polderbaan, you'll be taxiing for 15 mins too!

Thanks for the insight gents. Assuming I don't get on the 8:30 train I'll have to get the 2110. As said if the plane is delayed I'll have to stay in Amsterdam anyway. I catch an early train on the monday and still get where I need to be by 0830.

If I remember correctly pasty control Is for each gate as you get off the plane so that will help timing!

Normally pretty quick...

Really depends on who flying with , can be half hour from landing to exit plane but equally can be 10 mins.
Passport control similar, straight through or 20mins.
Frequent route for me, best advice be prepared for long wait n take it as comes.
I once planned it all out for a meeting but ended up sat on plane for 2.5hrs because of fog!
I tend to drive Harwich to Hoek van Holland now, but that's my OCD being in control , at least I'm moving !
Good luck n chill 😉

I made the train, I only had hand luggage and was waiting on the platform not 10 minutes after landing!!!
