Have unfortunately noticed that my jag s type clutch cover is self adjusting, does this mean that once it's adjusted the fingers will be further in the cover? I'm now at the stage where I can get the adaptor plate made up and I'm looking at 25mm thick but if the fingers are going to move in and away from the release bearing it won't need to be this thick, I don't have an adjustment tool so will have to get one. Anybody any ideas? Does anybody know of any non self adjust clutch covers that will fit the s-type flywheel? Thanks in advance.

From memory, the springs on the adjustment fingers are full compressed on a new clutch.
If yours are fully extended the adjuster is at full length,so no more change in thickness

Cheers, mine look to be half way, have fitted it up again today and even the spigot bearing looks to be spot on, getting easier by the minute, just to source a 240mm 23 spline 1" unsprung clutch plate now! Ha, cheers.

These will get a helix clutch cover and driven plate made up to your spec, I had a 240mm 6 paddle sprung plate made with a 1" 23 spline centre for my car, it cost around £150 from memory. Feels like an organic clutch with no judder but can handle 500lb of torque from memory.

Highly recommended.

The whole idea with the self adjusting cover plates is that the fingers stay more or less in the same place over the life of the clutch, unlike a standard cover where the fingers gradually move out as the clutch plate wears (or inwards for a pull clutch). This gives a more consistent bite point and pedal travel over the life of the clutch.
