hydraulic clutch

I'm trying to fit the engine as far back as possible and am fouling the clutch lever on the frame.
has anyone used a hydraulic clutch on a MK indy??
What prices do these go for??

Hi,I dont know what engine you are using but I had the same problem with moving my Toyota engine and box back.
I've fitted a Saab 2000 internal clutch slave cylinder by machining an adapter to fit inside the bellhousing.
Fords use one similar in the Zetec set up and these could be adapted too.
To see the Saab set-up look at Eddy McClements build site.
I also had to slightly chop the corners off the footwells as well but my engine is only about 2" in front of the footwells.
Raw engineering have confirmed to me that moving everything back will make big improvements to handling .
Good luck! Dean.....

Doh! I knew it was too easy sitting the gearbox back a long way!
The clutch etc. in the tunnel hadn't even crossed my mind! Aaagh!

Chopping the tunnel (for the 3rd time in my case!) has gotta be easier/cheaper than a hydraulic clutch hasn't it?

Hi James, you southerners always take the easy route!Stop being a wimp and do the job properly.
Only joking mate. It is a bit time consuming making mods out of non standard bits but you will have to way up your options.Only you can decide!
If you have no lathe or access to one to make adapters, it may be easier to leave your engine forwards slightly.
I'm intending to make my car handle better than I can drive, which should be quite easy, for sprints and hillclimb use.
Best of luck,Dean....

Ok checked the ford garage and indeed 3 types of hydraulic clutch mechanisms.
The fiesta one is very wide with cast attachments to it but the mondeo one is nice and small. They certainly don't cost as much as the race types!!
Has anyone fitted any of these? and what changes to the belhouse are needed??
What size of cylinder is required???is the standard ford one useable??
