Just name dropping...

My wife and I were sitting in a cafe in Hadleigh, Suffolk this morning, watching a driver make a complete pig's ear of parallel-parking his Lexus just outside. When the driver got out, my wife looked at the old bloke with his long grey hair and beard and jokingly said "he looks just like Rick Wakeman". Then I looked at his number plate... RW**YES.

So...

And you and I both know this story is made up. Bet he wasn't even close to the edge of the bay.

Good grief - you can tell how old some people are on this forum...

Rick Wakeman and Ian Lavender have been frequent attenders at Bury St Edmunds Cats Protection events.

Was it the cafe near the roundabout?

David Jenkins - 14/11/19 at 03:38 PM

No, Paddy & Scott's in the front of the Co-op - part of the entertainment in there is people watching those outside the window, plus watching people park in the bays just outside! The other entertainments are gazing at the nice young women behind the counter... the less said about the camp young man behind the counter, the better!

Or did I just miss yet another 'Yes' song reference!

Hmm I'm not sure. But back on topic, I used to have a Lexus. What a great car for eating up the motorway miles in comfort. You could say it was a great long distance runaround.

A few years ago (1989ish IIRC) I spent an hour or so talking with a certain Leslie Crowther at Heathrow (in Terminal 3 IIRC) while I waited for a fare (I was Taxi driving at the time). I was VERY impressed with him because he remembered myself AND my parents from when he saw me last some 25 years earlier (I was about 7 or 8 at the time) after he asked me for a clue and my reply to him was "Fish and Chips!". He came straight back with my parents christian names and asked how they were. A true gentleman and his wife remembered us too.
