What did you buy first.
Just wondering what people bought first for the Tiger? I've bought
Diff £40
Complete drive shatfs and hubs £70
Cortina uprights and hubs £70
all before i've even got my chassis.

thats the best way as parts are getting scarce now so make sure you have the basics caliper drums, steering next

dont you need the sierra hubs for the tiger I think the cortina ones need a modification to the wishbones, I have a set of M16 callipers knocking
about if ypu need any the will need a refurb

Cortina hubs are correct for avon, it was my first purchase at £23 for whole cortina front subframe !
Locost Xflow 150bhp injected! Sold :-(

Sierra Steering column
Go for M16's as above, they are fine for track too as long as you use Green stuff pads or similar. dont make the mistake i did and buy the
Willwoods, they felt no different to the M16's and i was £300 lighter.

I bought wilwood and found them much better than the M16 on my other Avon.
I too would get a harness from elsewhere.
What engine you going for??

Not a clue, a standard zetec/duratec is a little vanilla for my liking, bike carbs are to fiddly and turbo/superchargeing them to expensive. Bike
engines are to screamy.
I want something fairly simple and not to expensive to tune.
I dont want massive bhp, a reliable 180-220 bhp for free would be great.

People generally go for the std Ford as they fit well under the bonnet of the Avon but be careful as the depth of the Avon body restricts the types of
engines you can fit without suffering grounding problems.
What Willwoods did you swap for Neil?
A couple of points to note:
Rally design do an 'M16 replacement' but in fact M16's came in two piston sizes (48mm, 54mm) It is worth finding out which you
have, because most people's braking experience is 'how does it feel compared to what I had before' and if you go from a 54mm M16 to
a Powerlite you may well find them less effective due to them having about 84% of the piston area
You may need to check as if you get 54mm M16's you'll need to buy the bigger Midilite with 38mm pistons in order to match up piston areas
before and after.
One great upgrade i did along the way was scrapping the Sierra master cylinder in favour of a mk.1 Fiesta with a smaller piston, brake feel was
greatly improved and if you are at this stage i'd recommend going for this or the after-market ones with 0.7 pistons for the front.

Not a tiger but the first thing i bought was a ford capri for the wheels, yep odd i know.But made my money back and some by selling the car.
Think about it, think about it again and then do it.

I used Powerlite calipers on the front and sierra rear calipers on the back.
I've got a Duratec in mine and theres not much spare room high wise. I had a Zetec in my other one which was fine, but the Duratec is better. I
did plan on putting a busa in it, but cost and height of the engine put me off.

Oh go on then, I'll chip in. It's a scratch build I'm doing but I went:
Engine
Gearbox/shafts
Wheels
Hubs to match wheels and driveshafts
Next in order are:
lots of designing of all the other parts to hold those parts up and make them go around corners properly.
