If you can not find Zetec engine number check with camera!

Just a hint, may be worth trying for all those missing engine numbers.

picked up a 16V Zetec 1.8 tonight told it was a certain type could not find any engine number. Cleaned off the area where it should be and to my eyes no stamp.

Cleaned further with emery paper and there could possibly be some markings!

Got the digital camera shot from slight angle and zoomed in to the result. There is a engine number stamped there but not how I would expect it, as dots!

	Zetec engine no
Zetec engine no

SO RDA and TG give type and age.

Thought it may help some others.

Might cover up a few numbers. It would be a shame for someone with some number punches to clone your engine!!!

Hi ash,

No not a winter upgrade thinking of next car.

Have accumulated a few engines gearbox, diff and axles etc, initially as spares but could be doing second build next year!

Adrian

Have changed the picture from Ben's comment although a 2006 engine is not going to get pre CAT, you never know what people want.

Look on the head by the water pump the engine number is stamped there as well. It may help you sort the missing numbers / letters. assumes you have a matching head and block
