Avon Bodywork

Hi,

I'm slowly building up my Avon but will need some bodywork at some point!

As I'm doing it on a budget I'm looking secondhand so am I right in thinking that most Westfield, MK Indy, Locost, Caterham stuff will fit?

Thanks

Olly

I believe there are differences in bonnet and scuttle, as the various cars are different widths. Even within the Westfield family there are various sizes and shapes depending on the type and age of car.

If you're on a budget, why not follow the book advice and go for second hand sheet metal?

The mk1 tiger body work was a very poor fit so I doubt that MK - caterham will fit, but I may be wrong.

I'd stick with the body from Tiger as it's designed to fit?

When I got my tiger I had some locost and Haynes stuff kicking about.

Locost bits
Scuttle was too wide on both.
Side panels fitted at the front but only to the scuttle n needed making narrow.
Rear panel was too wide and arches too narrow
Nose too wide and high
Bonnet too long and wide

I tried for a bit to make them fit but have up.

Keep and eye out for stuff on eBay and the tiger forum.

I have a tiger bonnet for £40

It's new type so fits better but you need to make sure you don't mix up new bonnet and nose with old stuff as they don't interchange.
I have an old nose cone as well £30

Good look try get the tub first it's the hardest to find and the hardest to fit.

David

Thanks everyone, I'm glad I've asked here as although I don't mind a bit of work, time is so hard to find these days that I think I'd be better saving up for something compatible.

Cheers

Olly

Olly, I have the number of a guy who has/had a brand new Mk1 body in orange if you are interested. Friend of mine has seen it and reckons its good.
I am waiting for delivery of my Mk2 body from Tiger at the moment as I wanted the newer design and white.
PM if you interested.
