I seem to remember there was some sort of nasty cleaning solution you could get to pickle stainless to get it clean, then hose down with water, but can'te remember what it was called - anybody got any ideas?

In the 70s we used to clean the 2 strokers by filling them with caustic soda and leaving overnight.

We used potatoes to block one end, it always amazed me how the caustic didn't destroy the spud.....
