locating the ECU

I'm installling an ME221 ecu on the dax. The instructions suggest putting it inside the car and passing the cable through the bulkhead. I was thinking of putting it in the engine compartment on the top of the bulkhead for easier access. Are there any issues with doing this?

Many ECUs are not water proof so need to be protected from the elements.

If you drive through a puddle the engine bay can get pretty wet

I am looking at putting my speeduino ecu in the back or boot I guess. I have the factory one under the scuttle and its just too hard to get at even when the car is on a hoist. I can waterproof an area back where it will be easily accessable.

Thanks

Looks good. I think I will make a waterproof case on the scuttle.

I had an Omex ECU that was located in the engine compt and after a few years it developed a fault.
Omex repaired it (for a reasonable fee) and asked where it was located... it turns out that the heat generated in the engine compt can damage the ecu.
