The Knobs - 4/1/19 at 09:46 PM

Looking for info and advice on rotrex supercharging my R1 Striker. May look at turbo if anyone has any advice or has one I could look at?

Have you looked at TTS Performance?

The Knobs - 4/1/19 at 10:25 PM

Yes I have but would like to see if I can do my own set up and install.

Getting the drive for a supercharger will be the hardest part IMO.

My R1 engine was turbo charged, just removed it all as converting to car engine.

Which R1 engine have you got?

5PW is 2002-2003 20 valve engine sane as the carbed R1?

Or if it's deffo 2006 it will probs be 5VY 16 valve?

I converted my carbed engine to FI running 8 injectors, running 7 psi of boost on standard compression engine it was 197bhp,went well.torque was massively improved

Yes you are probably right. I hadon't a rotrex Toyota engined striker that was mightily impressive hence haven't really looked at turbocharging. Pity I couldn't have seen your install.

I looked into this a bit. If a rotrex you're looking at a C15-60 from memory, that's what TTS base their kit around. As far as I know not so many people have forced induction on a 5PW, there seem to be more conversions done on the models either side so either the earlier carbed 4xv or 5jj or the later 5VY.

OK next question, how do I know which engine I have? Is there a marking with the relevant letters on. I do know car was built in 2006 new with injected engine.

You could still buy new 5PW engines in 2006 so year of build won't help much.

A 5PW will have 5PW stamped on it somewhere near the sight glass or sump, I can't remember!

You may also be able to work it out from the engine number with a bit of googling.

The 5PW has a number of parts in common with the earlier engines so you may also see 5JJ or 4XV on certain parts.
