VTR 1000 - opinions (size?)

Hi all.

Still deciding what to build I come across with a VTR1000, which have an enoumous torque (97 lbf.ft / 131 Nm) with good power (108 hp).

The engined seems a little (!) too big, measured from the engine shaft to the left, which seems that won't fit in a standard chassis (like ST / MK / Ron's ...)

Any opinions on this one / does anyone know any built locost with this engine?

Many thanks all

I was set on a VTR due to good torque and very low weight [even bought the haines manual] changed my mind - after talking to bikers - the way it delivers power is very different to 4 clyinders. the max torque comes in at rather high revs although it does have a flatter curve.

small point as well the clutch slave clyinder overlaps the front drive spocket - which may foul your drive shaft flange.

There are less old spares for them and less tuning bits than other more popular bikes.

I havent finished building mine so dont know if I have made the right decision.!!!

hope that helps

must be a highly tuned VTR youve found as std only knocks out 71 ft lb I think.

check out Stuart Taylor motorsport and thier Phoinex storm which uses the VTR SP1 - the racing version of the Firestorm - theres now an SP2
