OT - diesel fuel pump for a 406 HDI 1999 2ltr
Hi
One of the guys at works been quoted silly money for a new pump being fitted - £1000 
Unfortunately he knows no better and can’t fix it himself, anyone got one lying about or know a good garage or pump specialist in Aberdeen that will
not rip him off.

The HDi high pressure pump is high, but the low pressure pump is low. It really depends which one is dead, as the low pressure pump takes 10mins and
less £100 to fix.

the low pressure is usually the one that goes.
the high pressure pumps are very reliable, but theres always the exception.

Plenty of these engines in the breakers now and if it's the high pressure pump, it can be changed in less than a hour with some common sense.

oh right, its the high pressure one on the engine (personally I don't do diesels unless its on my digger)

Auto data reckons 5.8 hrs for pump dont know if thats right thou ?

The labour time would include replacing the cambelt. They should be done every 96k. But the pump can be changed without interfering with the belt, the
pump doesn't need timing as it only generates pressure. You could learn the best way to do it on the doner in the scrappy, honestly.
