Pan European Pinto thing

My Pinto is fully installed in the chassis and (subject to driving it in about a years time!), I am very pleased with it.

Talk about spanners and works, there is a possibility of getting a V4 lump out of an ex police bike called a Pan European. The engine points in the right direction and it even has its own propshaft in addition to a 6 speed box.

The last time I had any dealings with bikes, you could ride a 250cc on a provisional licence.

Is this engine any good, would I have severe difficulties using a 3.75:1 diff?

It sounds good and would have exhausts down each side of the car COOOL!

Should I go for it, just consider it, dream about it, or carry on with the Pinto?

I saw one in a chasis on the Stuart Taylor stand at stonleigh. The engine fitted well apart from the fact that it looked about a foot to high. Most of the excess height was the carbs and airbox and i am sure there must be a means of reducing the height, if not you would need some large blocks under the seat to see over the top of the engine.

The engine only looks about 15" high!
Why was it set so high in the chassis?

The engine was not that high in the chassis but the carbs and airbox were well above the scuttle .I think the sump was almost level with the bottom rails but it may have been set higher to bring the output shaft to a suitable height.
