MX-5 Hub Nut Dust Caps
micksalt - 26/8/15 at 01:10 PM

So far, I've had no problems finding sources for the parts I need to restore the MX-5 bits going into my Vortx. However, the dust caps (Mazda Part B455-26-071) that prevent dust ingress into the hub nut and wheel bearing are proving very tricky to find in the UK. Any ideas where I might find these?

Thanks in advance.

They've served me well for a lot of bits, but not these. I wonder if it's just a case of measuring the aperture and ordering generic grease caps?

Hmm, this post made me think about my donor... I didn't have dust caps on any of the hubs!!

I had them on three of the hubs, but ended up mashing them on removal due to corrosion. Apart from the seal between the hub, brake-disc and wheel, there's not a lot stopping dust and water getting to the hub nut and subsequently the bearing.

There was some in the bearing kit I bought for my mx5. If you are replacing the bearings then buy a bearing kit rather than just the bearing. Failing that, ring mx5 parts. Good to deal with and very knowledgable from my dealings with them. In fact, I know I have a bearing in my garage but unsure if it's a kit or not.

No problem at all. Anything mx5 related just ring them, they are very very good at what they do.
