MX5 brake master cylinder layout

Now I've finally got off my a** and started working on the car, I need some ideas for the MX5 master cylinder. The master cylinder comes with an extra part attached to the side, I'm guessing it's some sort of brake bias valve. There's two pipes from the master cylinder to the valve, then it goes off to the front and rear brakes.

First question, does anyone have a diagram of how it should be laid out? I can see roughly where the two fronts come out, and where the rear single line heads backwards down the car. I don't understand why there are two pipes from the MC to the valve though.

Next question, where have people mounted the bias valve? Is it standard practice to leave it on the side of the MC, or is it usually moved elsewhere?

And lastly, one of the connectors on the bias valve appears to be a banjo fixing with a bolt through the middle, then a regular 3/8" connector at right angles. I assume this is to make things easier in the original MX5, is there any issue with changing it back to a 3/8" straight out of the valve?

I dropped the banjo fitting for a straight fitting on my Zero build. No issues there.

I also lost the bias part too and not had any issues with rears locking first etc etc.
