Failed IVA today

Not the worst fail, my speedo was out by 2mph.

I need to swap the 23 tooth speedo drive to a 20 tooth one.

Retest is already booked for next friday.

Just need to find an mx5 20 tooth speedo gear now

I think thats the part no. for it. Friend of mine needed one a while ago, not sure where or if he got one though.

Unlucky on the IVA but good luck on the next one, should be an easy pass if thats the only issue!

Very good effort and the retest isn't far off!

You'll be on the road soon

£126 + vat for Mazda.

Not found a second hand one yet

I'm going to try and modify a ford 20 tooth one

For the sake of your Iva I would suck it up. If the ford one let's go on the day it will make the Mazda part look cheap with the retest fees.

+1 if you can't turn up a genuine one cheaper. Was it a stock item with Mazda or have you got to factor in delivery time.

PS. Hard luck.

Could always change the tyre and or wheel size to a smaller diameter, assuming it's under reading.

Do you know what model MX5 it's out of? I have a Mk2.5 that I am breaking (abandoned Exocet build!) and I already have the speedo gear (assuming that's the gearbox one) sitting in a box.

EDIT
Dug it out and counted - 22 teeth!

could you 'nudge' the needle round on the gauge a couple of mph?
