trackcam iphone app

Hello all, was looking to get an HD trackday camers, such as a GOPRO then found out about an iphone app called trackcam, so bought it and gave it a trial run today (in my jag).

I am very impressed with the results as you can alter the data fields etc.

Just got to work out a way to fix the iphone to the car now.......

Its a shame the GPS speed is jumpy, but it seems the iphone GPS isnt as good as a tomtom for speed tracking

The below clip was taken on a sony camera that I butchered to take an xbox mic in. The reason for the link is that the data was taken from Trackmaster, an andriod app. It samples and takes loads of data which can be easily exported.

If you want my GPS accuracy then buy a bluetooth GPS receiver (5Hz) this will increase accuracy greatly. Check you app can accept it first though. MAybe you can acheive mic in from a blue tooth handsfree kit then hide the mic under the dash or in the boot for non wind buffing noise.

This is all discussed on the vid comments.

Enjoy.

Looks good, bit I'm not sure I'd get more than 5mins out of my Iphone running that before the battery went flat or it crashed.

Lee, I'd love to see the trial run out in your toy... just downloaded the app, my only concern is how much the iPhone zooms in when on video mode...

Great video, I like it, easily as good 'quality' as the go pro... Just a shame the viewing angle is zoomed in as standard...
All the wide angle lenses I've seen for the iPhone are magnetic, I doubt would stay on the phone at 100mph around a track... Such a shame!!!
I like seeing the driver activity on track too you see

There is also this app here:

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/optrix-videopro/id488154823?mt=8

I have bought it but not had a chance to try it yet, it seems to have fixed focus option etc so that may be better?

I just do not see the point in a GO-PRO if I already have an iphone 4!

It's purely for the wide viewing angle that it offers that it attracts me...

Maybe it time for me to devise a way of clipping the wide lens on, rather than relying on a poxy magnet lol

I'll check the other app out now!
