Starting relay is required, just short out the side stand and clutch. Other things you'll need to join are the main switch, kill switch and when you want to start, the start wire will need to go to ground.

I believe the lean angle can be stopped with a 470 ohm resistor but haven't tried it.
If you're wiring up a 5PW then I have a useful guide on my website

It's a 2003 engine 5PW code

@ chockymonster , i'll check your site today.

I would like to keep the wiring as simple as possible, so I thought it would be nice to keep al complicated stuff out.

You can remove the starter cut off relay. You have to make sure that the starter relay is connected to ground and to the battery through your iginition switch to make it start.

For simplicity, if you are using the bike's wiring loom, leave it as it is and just short the clutch switch and sidestand switch.

In the interest of balance...

I've stripped my (simpler 5JJ) loom right back and am using a Lucas Starter Solenoid. Doesn't get any simpler in terms of the finished starter circuit.

Why use a whacking great Lucas solenoid when the teeny Yamaha one is lighter and very reliable?

The same goes with the various relays - I've never known of a bike relay to fail, and they're so small and light compared to the massive stock automotive devices that you pick up from a motor factors....

Sorry Tim, I wasn't after a row - I was just wondering why?

That's ok.
1. To be honest it looked the most straightforward way to me (!?)
2. It looked the neatest (as in tidyiest) solution and I HATE messy wiring.

I fully expect to be wrong, but that's the way it's happening.
