Calzonii - 22/3/15 at 12:52 AM

Anyone have any ideas wheres best to pick up a decent duratec engine? 2/2.3/2.5 L really doesnt matter. Planning on installing in an Indy R.

Cheers,

Cal

Know of a fiesta st breaker that will sell a complete engine ecu ect for around £500, ive got a duratec v6 2.5 ltr dont go for bad money. As for the 2.3 i only know of them being use in the usa.

Pretty sure the caterham csr uses the 2.3 lump, but by the time dos worth have had thier hands on them they seem to be expensive!

My ultimate plan is to fit a supercharger for use in an MK and will have to rebuild the engine as compression ratio will need to be lowered. Thats what I expect anyway?

Have you got a link to that fiesta breaker sam?

Cheers

No need for fiesta engine find scrap mondeo engines are cheap on e bay now i payed £270 for mine

do all mondeos run duratecs? and would these take a supercharger without modifying them? or would you need to decrease compression by reboring and changing pistons?

Something like 2003 on same as st would need to lower comp to run blower strong crank need steel rods and pistons bore size is same as 2.3 so standard 2.3 pistons would lower comp on 2.0

Wouldnt running 2.3 pistons in a 2.0 only increase C/R? As shorter rods? Forgive my ignorance

Looks like these guys have sorted it out already, worth a call.

Why not just get a mazda mps engine, basically a turbo'd duratec.

Here is another interesting thread

There is a great build log in the stickies at the start of the engine & transmission section for a supercharged duratec build and everything you need to do - flakmonkeys one - it actually says something like 'sump build' in the title which may seem a bit odd....

2.3 is a taller block so be carful as there isnt much room in a seven anyway,

if your changing rods and pistons which you will if you want to supercharge then you can get a new crank and its makes the 2.0 block 2.3 without the extra height

Calzonii - 23/3/15 at 04:48 PM

Ahhh So its the crank that changes the compression ratio? Im gonna be shortening the sump on the 2L which ive found a good one on ebay for to give me more ground clearance.

Was lookin at Flakmonkeys install and that thread is amazing! But just as a guide for cost what components will i need to change to attach a supercharger ultimately?

Pistons
Rods
Crank
(Standard cams ok?)
Stronger cam springs?
Throttle bodies, Injectors and plenum
Pulleys and new belt

Cheers
