ride height

I have a lot of sump sticking out the bottom of my chassis, some of this will be removed when I rework the sump however will likely still have up to 50mm protruding. As the car will be used for touring, can I get away with fitting longer shocks to raise the ride height? Any suggestions on shock length, 15,16"? or is there a bit of ride height adjustment in the standard 14" shocks (looking at the gaz units from rally design).

If it ain't broken, fix it anyway (just because).
