Diff ratios and flanges.

I have two diffs , one is a 3.89 ratio with the uncommon small dia flange and the other one i have just got has the standard sierra dia flange, but i have just found the ratio to be 4.125 which I assume may be to low a ratio for road use although i do have a 5 speed type 9 box.
Has anyone sed this combination , or would I be able to swap the drive flanges between the two axles , i would obviously have to get a new crushable spacer for the pinion but dont know were from.
Any suggestions .
Paul.
