Ignition only ECU

What is the current recomendation for ignition only ecu's?

Is there anything better that Megasquirt around now?

megajolt (rather than megasquirt) is probably still the cheapest option if you get the donor bits yourself

(got all my MJ donor bits for £25, trigger wheel for £15 and the ECU for £90 +p&p)

and a lot of the fancy ECU's come as ignition only versions: Omex, emerald.... etc

plenty of choice, but whats you budget and how fancy does it need to be ?

I'm on Nodiz Pro, was a little bit more expensive (20-30 quid) than megajolt but I think a better unit with more feature.
Matt at M-Tech I think i launching a standard Nodiz unit that should be bang on the money compared to Megajolt but its not out yet.

Megajolt version 1 to 3 still way cheaper
Megajolt 4 has all the functions you'll ever need

I eat to survive
I drink to forget
I breath to pi55 my ex wife off (and now my ex partner)

what price did you recon megajolt was ?

as far as I can see the Nodiz Pro without sensors and coil pack is £299

even trigger-wheels.com will sell you the basic megajolt unit for £130 and as to the extra bit the only thing I can see thats different between them is you need the EDIS modue for megajolt (the ones on ebay etc are a total rip off, try local scrapyards)

Seem to remember about 200 for megajolt then 30 for an edis 4 module.
Can't remember the exact number but I got on the group buy for the nodiz I think for around 260 but my memories going.

Forgive my ignorance as I'm still in the dark ages of carbs...

But would the mega thingys be able to completely replace the ecu from a production car and work with a factory multi injection, multi coil pack engine without resorting to bike injectors etc

How reliable are these anyway, same life as a factory ecu?

Yes..although if you have stuff interfaced on canbus it could get tricky...

as reliable as the man who soldered it...
