Looks very nice. Are their enough threads (2?) sticking out of the nylocs to keep the SVA man happy?

Just. However, the bolts are a tight friction fit in the brackets to prevent them turning anyway.

Just to be safe I may replace them with longer ones.

Certainly looks the part. I think that if everything is neat and tidy like this then Mr SVA man shouldn't look to deep.

Well thats the theory anyway. Anybody tried bribing these guys or is it not the done thing?!

As long as the thread is through the nylon then it is fine - it only needs one thread through it as then it should be locked by design.

Possibly in theory, but the men with clipboards are reputed to want more. Which is of course the important detail since arguing the toss during the test seems unlikely to work.

if you are at all unsure there is nothing to stop you drilling through and adding a split pin. they can't complain then!

That better? Old photo anyway, lost the hamburger meat and grown a beard since then.

I'm going to be frank now, and I hope I don't offend anyone:-

My day job pays me well so it's usually more economic for me to put in a few hours overtime and pay someone else to sell me bits than to make them myself. I built the pedal box (took a weekend!) because I couldn't find anyone elses design that I liked. I wanted to use a standard MC and cable cluth etc and I wanted it to be floor mounted and removable. Hence my solution. It wouldn't really be economic for me to sell the odd component or two but I have been giving thought recently to setting up a small business to make some specialist parts. I.E. a de-dion that will almost fit a standard chassis and the pedal box amongst other things. If I did this I would be more interested in quality rather than quantity and as such the bits wouldn't be cheap.

I'm happy to make a couple of pedal boxes and see how things go but you'll be looking at £100 plus you supply a Sierra MC and the Clevis/Saddle/Pushrod. This is still cheaper than other solutions that require you buy a balance bar plus 2 brake MCs and a clutch MC/SC.

I'm keen to hear peoples thoughts...

There are a couple of things I should mention:-

You need a leg like pop-eye to work the clutch i.e. it's heavy. But I like it that way. The brake pedal is 5:1 ratio and with the Sierra MC it's easy to lock all the wheels but I haven't checked SVA compliance. Throttle pedel can be drilled for different strokes but was designed to work with the standard Sierra carb linkage.

Hope I didn't offend! - the closely cropped mugshot always startled me for some reason! A picture of me like that - now that WOULD be firghtening....
BTW you're doing a beautiful job of the car - keep it up!

OH yeah - clevis's - RS components flog an M8 clevis for £1.80; not worth getting the hacksaw out at that price - here's a photo of one in action...

Note this uses the metro upright master cylinder & JUST fits under the taller GTS bodywork

Well done.

I made 4 pedal boxes before I was happy.

If you do not want to make them, why not draw some plans then we can try ourselves.

What is your clutch ratio?
