installing de deon

i have started to tack weld the brackets in for the de deon and have come across a couple of problems..

firstly the bolt that holds the panard rod onto the axle hits the chassis after very little movement of the axle, do i need to move the rear bar or am i missing something else..

and secondly the top shock mounts are orientated so the bolt goes across the car but on the brackets on the de deon the bolts go front to back i take it i just have to cut the ones off the chassis and turn them...

Shock brackets, the ones on the chassis are wrong, turn them through 90deg.

Bolt - use a shorter one! I should think your p-rod has a rose joint on the axle end?

if i use rose joints should i do it a both ends.

no, rose joint the axle end and bush the car end, its much quieter on the road and just as good

I found it easier to lop the shock brackets off the axle and mount on the same bolt as the upper trailing arm, in single shear. Just another option to consider.

really i can't see that there is a problem here as you will find that nothing stops you just turning the top amount on the shock so that it at 90 degrees to the bottom one and as the suspension movement requires some latitude that the ends are designed to cope with all should work fine.

As said ^^ this is probably the best option, although IMO the best way to position both shock mounts is as they are on your DeDion i.e. bolt running front to back, which saves the shock bushes being twisted in bump/droop situations

i've often wondered this - but doesn't doing that mean the shock is twisted over every bump - single wheel or double as the 12" trailing arms are going to move up and down and forwards and backwards causing twisting.

I believe for live axles the westfield has the mounts as you show.

I'll be mounting my shocks using the top trailing arm mount + if i can be bothered an additional bit of steel to make it double sheer.

i have decided to go the rose joint route

on the panard rod..

and am going to weld brackets onto the

de deon for the shocks....
