How heavy is the trailer? I'd guess at 350kg? That only leaves a 400kg load as it has no brakes so is limited to 750kg.

richijenkin - 23/3/12 at 04:40 PM

no idea sorry. I was wondering what the limit was for no brakes.

Cheers
Richi

It might be worth getting the trailer weighed.
Most becs come in at under 500kgs.

If it is fairly light or practical to add brakes then this is a bargain.

It's possible to get a rough idea of how much the trailer weighs with some bathroom scales.
To convert to a braked trailer is a bit of a chore. Used bits would obviously make it doable but new bits would cost about £230 per pair of susp units and hubs and £160 for the hitch. £620?

Trailer weighs 200kg's with a gross weight of 750 kgs.

It was made for a MK B.E.C

A few people from this site have borrowed this trailer and commented on how well it tows.

Tire size 5.00x 8

According to my list of weights I made for my trailers:
4off 5x8 wheels/tyres=20kg
4off indes units/hubs=30kg
Steel unbraked hitch=5kg
Which leaves 145kg of steel. How thin is the frame?

I've withdrawn my offer because I need a trailer thats got brakes suitable for towing a Escort as well as my Striker.
Grab yourselves a bargin.
Cheers
Chris

750kg is the limit for an unbraked trailer but it does not automatically mean it is the most you can tow. You are also limited to something like 2/3 the weight of the towing vehicle which can be significantly less than 750kg for a small saloon. Even if it is braked it is not generally recommended to tow more than 85% of the vehicle weight.

Sorry, I haven't got that measurement. It was built by a trailer manufacturer for my car so I left the math to them.
