kipper - 4/1/13 at 05:24 PM

Slimy38 - 4/1/13 at 05:58 PM

This is mine;

It used to be a bit tatty and old, so I wrapped it in matt white vinyl, and replaced all the original decals. I think I've had it for seven years now, and I've been doing fewer and fewer miles each year. I keep thinking about selling it but it costs me virtually nothing to run so it'll stay with me for a while.

Simon - 4/1/13 at 06:45 PM

My bike history:

Kawasaki AR80 had around '89 - engine died, p/x'd for
Kawasaki AR125 which kept for couple of years (lent to a friend when I got)
BMW K100, no rear brake m/c, clutch on it's way out. Sold to pay off debt
At similar time (around 1991) had Honda wetdream (CB 250) for commuting to London - lasted a few months then camchain snapped. Fixed and sold.
Then looked after the bike school CG125 and got (via inheritance) a Suzuki GSX400 twin - which got nicked. Friend took over the CG so his wife could commute.
Then got ZZR1100 ('92) kept for just over a year and sold, then had Yamaha FJ1200 for a few years. Finally had my Hayabusa which I bought around '02 and sold about 6 years ago to pay for toy car.
Also bought a Suzuki GT500A approx 12 years ago as a resto - then started toy car so sold it about 4 years ago.

Nothing since and think it'll stay that way

I did a Diversion a couple of years ago for a mate of mine so he could sell it. He was glad to see the back of it. According to him he spent more on batteries and spark plugs than he did on petrol in the years that he had it.
This was it when it went after I tarted it up

I havnt had one for a few years and my 8 years Ncd have now lapsed. I didnt even start to drive untill I was around 22 due to having bikes and scoots.
I gave them up to keep my licence for my job.

CB125J
CB250 Dream
CB550F

jonabonospen - 4/1/13 at 11:48 PM

2007 GSXR 1000
1978 Honda CB750 cafe racer

NigeEss - 4/1/13 at 11:51 PM

'99 ZX9R, not an engine doner.

I thought Ducatti and unreliable were two words that went hand in hand.

Couple of friends had them, one had a very expensive thing that wouldn't start if it was cloudy so had a ZXR750RR as a spare, and another friend bought a brand new Ducatti that needed an engine rebuild after 3000 miles (approx 6 months old).

Only useful for hanging on the wall cos I do like to look at them

When it ran it was a thing of wonder....just didn't happen very often. It was a Mike Hailwood Replica though

Basically a 900SS with a body kit. Sounded wonderful. Sold it on as I was really a Honda person and was used to reliable bikes (!).

skov - 5/1/13 at 10:40 AM

Had various bikes over the years, but gave up riding on the road...
Just got a little 280 gas gas now:

OX - 5/1/13 at 05:47 PM

When i was a bike mechanic i got to ride most of what Yamaha ,Suzuki ,Triumph,Honda and Kawasaki had to offer but i think i've had more fun on the bike i own now than anything else ,especially around the twisties . It's no good on the open road though with only 105 mph top end but it wheelies for ever :-)

KTM 690 SMC-R

flak monkey - 5/1/13 at 07:34 PM

locogeoff - 11/1/13 at 10:52 PM

I've got the following in need of a wee bit TLC

56 D3 BSA Bantam
66 C72 Honda 250 (pressed steel framed version of one of OP's bikes)
83 Ducati Pantah 600

trialsman - 12/1/13 at 12:33 AM

Skov I also have a GasGas trials bike. It is a 2012 250cc econo. I've been riding trials since 1974. Trials riders RULE!!!!!! Russ

Mr Whippy - 12/1/13 at 12:44 AM

I had this CBR125R for my first bike which was a superb learner bike and for the inner city but too slow for 70mph roads

Got my full licence, sold the CBR for almost what I paid for it new and bought this Virago xv535 which is such a nice bike to ride, now very loud with a stainless exhaust, perfect amount of power for me and tonnes of torque so once going rarely need to change gear at all even overtaking up hills I'd give it 10/10

have to say though flak monkey's chopper is my dream kind off bike and looks just fantastic

Great to see another trials rider on here, they do indeed rule!
You must be pretty good if you've been riding that long

trialsman - 12/1/13 at 01:56 PM

Skov, I was fairly good at one time but age (and weight) has caught up to me. 62 year old bodies don't move so well. I think there are several trials riders on this forum, they just haven't seen this thread yet. Russ

black fingernail - 12/1/13 at 04:03 PM

The list of bikes I have previously owned is very long, the one I have hung on to is a 1979 Benelli 500 4 LS, I can't see me riding it again. I hope the grandkids will appreciate it.
