Speedo Placement on Trike...

I'm really struggling for space to mount a display in the trike monocoque. The most obvious place to mount it would be the face of the steering wheel... but that means the display will be rotated every corner! Is that a problem!?

From the MSVA Manual...

Reasons for Failure
1. A speedometer;
a) not fitted
b) does not indicate the speed in mph
c) does not indicate speed up to the design speed of the vehicle
d) not within the direct field of view of the driver
e) incomplete
f) insecure

Clearly the only one that remotely relates to my question is 'reason d'.... not within the direct field of view of the driver.

My interpretation of that is that it can go on the wheel as it will always be in my 'direct field of view'. Am I being too literal with interpretation (I've never done ambiguity when it comes to rules and regs... it either IS or it ISN'T!!!)?

Cheers!

I'd think that would be OK
I mean, if you define direct field of view, then surely that is'nt a letterbox opening with a view dead ahead down the road as no instruments are there?
So it must be within easy sight, ie by moving the eyes not the head.

Oh and nice to meet you yesterday. I was the good looking guy on th MK stand that pointed you at Olz with your "cough" rubbers Sorry I doidnt know it was you at the time but Steve H made it known to me

Relatively vague reference to a car pasing with a dash in the centre of a wheel. (Post #6 in the following WSCC Thread.
