Pegasus3 R8 Thunderbolt3

If I was ever in need of the LocostBuilders intelligencia it is now.

I don’t have IT support for Apple Macs at work, it’s up to me and to this point I have mostly made it work.

Cut to the problem, I specified a future proof large Promise Pegasus3 Raid with Thunderbolt 3 (USB C) connection.
Stupidly I assumed I could use the Apple USB C to Thunderbolt 2 connectors to connect it to my 2013 & 2015 Mac Pro’s (the round black wine coolers), when I open the Raid box there is a leaflet that says you can only connect it to a USB C enabled computer.

I do have a. Purple of USB C equipped Mac Book Pro,s but they only have 2 USB C’s each and we do have to take them out of the office.

So my learned friends what the hell do I do now?

Interesting & thank you but both my Mac Pros are “Coke Can”

I do have an old silver Mac Pro that needs a new hard drive, not sure it’s new enough for the required operating system, I will look in to it.

Please please keep posting solutions guys

Is it this one?

https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/HKWY2Z/A/prom ise-pegasus3-r4-12tb-4-by-3tb-raid-storage

This one says in the blurb that it is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 2 using the adapter....

I have the Pegasus3 R8 with 8x4Tb drives

Does not show back compatibility.

I can plug it in the Mac Book Pro but not for long as it only has 2 USB-C ports

I will look into the PCI card in the Mac Pro Tower as it gives a permanent solution until we buy new iMac Pro’s or whatever comes next.

I have clearance to buy connectors right now and if I can find a usb-c expansion that charges the Mac book pro then I have a way of charging the Mac book whilst serving out the Pegasus3 probably via Gigabit Ethernet, not my ideal solution but it will get me connected to the rest of the team.

Please keep ideas coming

This looks to be my best option but currently unavailable...
