MSA approved rear roll bar
Hi Chaps!
I had Darren sort out a rear roll hoop to my spec. to comply with MSA regs for my GTS chassis. Made from 45mm dia/2.5mm wall CDS tube c/w diagonal
& rear bracing. I think it's a good design, aesthetically pleasing etc. etc. & it complies with the "Blue Book".
If you are thinking of hill climbing/sprinting your chariot when complete and would like a look let me know and I'll try to post some photos (of
the bar!!).

dreckly, i'm looking around at rollbars, any chance of posting a pic and giving us a hint as to its cost (u2u if you want to keep it private)

Hmm, i could be interested as well.
I guess that as its the GTS chassis its wider than the normal roll bar. I suppose a price is still useful to give me an idea of what its going to cost
(and if its worth while buying a tube bender from machine mart - toys, toys i want more toys!!!)

Hi Mike,
Our chassis is no wider than the std. book so it will suit your car.
Don't bother to get a tube bender from machine mart to do it. I did when i built the first car and it just crushes the tube and looks awful.

OK Lads.
Will borrow a Digi Camera over the weekend and try to sort the pictures.
Can't do anything 'til then because I'm doing my mid week night shifts.Yawn!!

JJM was getting trigger happy & kept getting this great ugly git in the picture!!!!
I will hang the De Dion off the back & take some more pics hopefully later in the week to give you better points of reference.

Hmmm, you've done something I've been wondering about.
I would have thought that you should mount the roll bar on a tube junction. In its current position isn't it putting a twisting force on the
steel plate?
When I was thinking about mine the best I could think of was to weld a 1" steel tube underneeth where you've put the steel plate. Would
that be a good idea / worth it?

The mounting plate is reasonably thick and is welded from above & below.
Whilst I appreciate your concerns, IMHO this configuration appears to be more than sufficient, and should certainly be far more robust than back stays
that mount on the luggage compartment rails, as per the normally replicated style.
However, I will have another look later today with your thoughts in mind.

If you mean mounting the rails to the top curved rail - Eeek, i've seen those and have NEVER been a fan. Just can't see how it will
realistically do much when you need it too - like upside down on the road at 30mph!

Looked at my chassis & the mounting plates as promised and I can see no benefit in welding an inch square tube beneath them (my whole chassis is
made from gusseted 18swg tube).
These mountings look bomb proof to me.
I think you understand my point about other commercially available roll hoop assemblies.
IMHO this design could also help with rearward protection in the event of a shunt etc. as well as increasing the overall rigidity of the rear of the
chassis.
