Type 9 vs GT 4 Spd length
82 Locost - 11/6/08 at 10:44 AM

If I were to change my 4 speed GT 'box for a 9 speed type 9 (short input shaft), how much would I need to reduce the length of the propshaft by if I wanted to keep the engine in the same position? (I'm aware I need to change the 'box end of the prop too).

Alternatively, what's the difference in the gearbox lengths? I've tried searching but can't seem to find the answer.

Cheers

Mike

You would need to swop propshafts as the type 9 has a different input into the gearbox.

Do you know anybody who wants to buy a locost?

Gary

sorry just read ya post and you know about the end!!

So far I've found:

Type 9 = 760mm

Anybody know the lentgh of a type 2 (escort 4 spd)?

Cheers

For the record I've just managed to measure both types (on cars so not 100% accurate)

Type 2: 700mm

Type 9: 780-790mm
