BEC For Sale - CBR1000
jamestziros - 1/9/12 at 03:28 PM

Reluctant sale - move to Australia forces me to sell (Aussies won’t allow me to import). 3 years of care were invested in building this kit car before the official SVA test. It has completed no more than 20 miles of use as I moved to Australia soon after registering it in the UK.

Registered 2008 & SVA Tested & Road Legal
Locost Chassis with steel floor panels
CBR1000 Engine - 110bhp

Front Uprights, Brakes - Ford, Cortina
Rear Uprights & Wishbones - MK Indy
4 point Harness, Alloy Fuel Tank
ProTech adjustable shocks & Springs
Rear Brakes & Drive line - Ford, Sierra, 3.62 Limited Slip Diff
Battery Isolator, Push Button Start
Smiths Motorsport Rev Counter with Shift Lights, Telemetrics Speedo
Stainless Steel Exhaust & Straight through Silencer (Standard Downpipes)
Alloy Wheels, Braded Brake lines,
Up-rated clutch springs

Seamless Tube T45 Roll Cage with side protection.
Push/Pull Sequential Gear Change
SPA Detachable racing steering wheel with thumb switch indicators

MK Sportscars: Racing Seats, Nose Cone, Scuttle & bonnet scoop, light clusters

The car is in fantastic condition but has been resting (Garaged & Wrapped) for 3 years. As such, a few things need a little attention:

- Wheel alignment
- Connect automatic fan switch (currently a manual switch)
- Duct the radiator air inlet
- Trim Air Intake to make bonnet fit flush
- Fit windscreen deflector

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Email is probably best as I’m in Oz:
Any viewings will have to be between 23rd Sept & 8th oct when I am back in the UK. The car is located in Cumbria.
I'll upload some images on my photo gallery.

GBP 5k ono

Hasn't a member taken his to Australia?

And don't the Aussies have a thriving kit car scene?

I know of two members who have taken thier Sevens to Oz. Both to Western, rules may be different in
other states though.

There is a scene, but not thriving.

A personal import should be easier to get in, as in owned (with proof) for more than 1 year.
But, depends on state.
They also dont really like BEC's, causes problems with emission test I believe.
But if OP has checked and thats what he's been told, then not a lot he can do.

Out of interest, there's a 2009/2010 Sylva riot, first one built and registered by the WA importer I think, is on sale for AUD32.5k...................................... here

Also, check out the 'clubman' carsales section........................here

jamestziros - 10/9/12 at 01:11 AM

Car is located in Kirkby Stephen just off The A66.

I did not manage to get it to Aus, legislation did not allow import without paying large VAT equivalent...
If I could import I would. It pains me to have to sell it only drinking it a hand full of times.

Ah well, thats slightly different.
You could import but dont want to pay government charges, thats different than not being able to full stop.

Anyway, good luck with the sale. How's life in Aus for you ?

Sorry you couldn't get it over here, you needed to be the registered keeper for more than a year to be able the bring it in as a personal import which makes it possible to side step various rules about the engineering side of things, basically impossible if you've not personally imported it.

The import duty is based on what the car is worth so if can provide receipts for everything then that makes the valuation a bit easier as this usually done by a 3 rd party who has nothing to gain by upping the value.

Also you don't say which state you were thinking bringing it in to, WA is the easiest, NSW the toughest...

They are worth a lot more over there but not many buyers

If I can be of any help then please drop me a note, I am a member of the local sportscarbuilderswa club so anything I don't have an answer to, I should be able to get an answer from somebody.

Cheers

Rich

P.s Steve when you coming over for a holiday?
