Blackbird (CARB) cdi inputs

Hello, my first post...AND NOW MOVED TO THE CORRECT SUBJECT - IGNORE

I have a lotus 23 replica I've been building for the last 10 years (!). I've done a couple of track days and found that I have an intermittent power failure due to, I think, the side stand cut-out switch join* (I used the 1996 Blackbird loom, joined the clutch wires up and sidestand wires). It starts in N and runs in gear (when the join is ok*) but I want to be able to start in gear.
Does anyone know how to fool the CDI into letting it start in gear?
Can I remove the sidestand/clutch wires and clutch diode if I supply the relevant CDI input with 12V?
I'm sure that someone out there has done it before.

Cheers Steve

From when I had my bird engined 7, I'm 95% sure all my switches were wired straight to earth to allow it to start when ever. But as I've not owned the car for 6 years, that 95% could be a tad optimistic......
