Ron Champion Complete Chassis
I purchased the kit in 2009 as a full rolling setup with the intentions of going IVA registration route although it soon became a garage feature and
forgotten about.
The car was originally built by an old fabricator to exceptional standard who used to compete, may well have been a member here. It originally had a
1.3 X-flow Ford engine with 4 speed gearbox fitted and the mounting points are still there to re-install.
Kit Includes
Ford Escort MK2 English Rear Axle with brake drums. (I cannot remember the ratio but I will update)
New (at the time) Avo Shocks
Fully polybushed wishbones and 5 link rear swing arms.
MK2 Escort Steering Rack
GRP Front Cycle wings
GRP Rear Arches
GRP Nose Cone
GRP Scuttle
Stainless Steel Side Panels (still with peel-off protective film)
Pedal box is installed and functional with brake servo fitted and still has a clutch cable present.
Hand brake is fitted and functional with cables.
The steering column is setup
Unfortunately I cannot find the front uprights with the brakes and bearings attached so currently it is not in a rolling state although I will try my
hardest to find these and re-assemble the car.
It’s worth mentioning that the brake system was also fully functional with Ford M16 front caliper's when I originally purchased. Again
I'll try to find these.
To sum up, the car was almost complete when I purchased it just requiring an engine+gearbox, roll cage and seats. (it even had a wiring loom+fuse box
installed!). I then stripped it down to the chassis to have it sandblasted and powdercoated ready to have a fresh bare frame to start the
project.........8 years on and I've finally come to the realisation that I will not finish it.
