Box Section Cutter
the_big_1 - 17/5/17 at 12:00 PM

Hi All,

I have 3 pieces of box section I need for my build, that have two different angles cut each end.
Is there anyone around the midlands that can cut these as the chop saw and angle grinder arnt clean cuts for me.

Cheers!

Normally I would but rather someone with the right gear to help out than a man with a saw lol

Just mark the angles on the end and cut one face at a time then dress it with a file. I rebuilt most of my locost chassis like this, you can get a perfect fit.

^^ what he said - and don't kid yourself into thinking that a machine cut end will give you a perfect fit - you'll get it closer with a file if you spend enough time on it....

also never fall into the trap of assuming you can use "perfectly cut ends" instead of a jig - it doesn't work...

G clamp a small bit of wood to the box section as a guide for the hacksaw blade, then cut and file it. A little more physically laborious, but you'll get the fit you're after. Done it several times and it works well.
