I'm using something like this...

Alternator Belt Idler, Ford Transit Mk5 00>'06 2.0 Diesel Opt2/2 (+)A/C | eBay

I had to get a member on here to turn up a boss for me to weld to some plate so it is spaced properly. The pic is in my archive still I think.

The other idler that holds the belt as it comes off the alternator is a renault part with the centre removed, and the centre from a focus idler in it's place. I can find the part numbers if you need, they're in my enormous pile of receipts somewhere!

It's this one I think http://www.burtonpower.com/cosworth-poly-v-alternator-pulley-duratec-he-i4-yd0310.html although I have no idea why mine is black! I had to file a slot in it for the key as well.
